Pro Bass Fishing in Phoenix Arizona
People don’t realize this, but some of the best pro bass fishing in the country can be found just a short distance from Phoenix. Most may think of Arizona and Phoenix specifically as being lacking and deprived of water sports and water in general, but nothing could be further from the truth.
The weather is perfect almost every day of the year and it is rare for any of the lakes to see temperatures under 50 even at night. This is what makes pro bass fishing in Phoenix so rewarding. The climate, abundant food and large lakes produce an unusually large number of trophy size fish. Not everyone is a State record contender, but don’t be surprised to land a couple 10 pounds and larger.
There are a number of major lakes a short drive from the Phoenix Metro area. All of the lakes have been created by dams and the water levels are pretty stable for the most part.
To the N.W. is Lake Pleasant. This is one exception to the consistent water level in the lakes. From week to week you will probably see changes in the shoreline. This is a great lake for water sports and it consistently produces great days of fishing. You will consistently catch 5 to 15 pound bass on both crank baits and spinner baits. Lake Pleasant boasts the title of producing 7 state record fish including a Striped bass that weighed 29 lb 13 oz that was caught in July of 2010. This lake has also holds the current State records for white bass as well as the records for Largemouth, Striped and White bass in the catch and release category.
The other great pro bass fishing lakes in the Phoenix area are all located to the N.E of the city. These are very popular with both fishermen and most water sports enthusiasts. Theses lakes are much larger with Bartlett Lake and Roosevelt being the two largest.
Bartlett Lake is the closest to the city and therefore the most popular for boaters and swimmers, but it is also producing a very large number of quality bass, especially largemouth. The water level has been raised in Bartlett Lake and this has had a noticeable impact on the number of fish. There are reports of anglers bringing in up to 100 fish per day, and we are not talking about fingerlings.
Roosevelt Lake is another major lake to the N.E. of Phoenix. It is the farthest out of town and holds the distinction of producing the State record Small Mouth bass at just over 7 pounds.
The other lakes in the chain are notable producers of record and trophy size bass also.
All the lakes in this chain to the N.E. of Phoenix are deep water “canyon reservoirs” and great recreational locations. Because of the variety of water depth and the sheer water volume they produce quantities and qualities of bass like no other locations we know of. The best part is they are only a short drive from your home or hotel.
If you have never heard of pro bass fishing in Phoenix then it might be time to take a look, you will certainly be glad you did.
There is a reason why Phoenix has the largest number of boat owners per capita of any other major metropolis.
